Sydney2Gong Cycle

On Sunday I rode the Sydney 2 Gong (Wollongong) to raise money for people with MS.

This is Sydney's version of the '94.7 Cycle Challenge". Although it's not full road closure and cyclists have to stop at red lights and stop signs on the way - Was not very happy about! Not to mention the forced stop for 3 mins before a steep descent, something to do with safety.

I completed the ride in 2h42 - It's meant to be a 90km ride but it turned out to be 85km.

With a grass finish there was no group sprint! Hmmm that was a little strange.

A record turn out of 13 000+ cyclists entered the event.

The route profile.

Hyams Beach, Jervis Bay, NSW

We went down to Hyams Beach for the Labour Day holiday. It's a 3hr drive south from Sydney along the NSW coast.

Rented this little cottage.

It's said that Hyams beach has the whitest beach sand in the world. I think they may be right.

Nights were spent relaxing with wine and playing cards.

Even the bikes and golf clubs to go on the trip.

Martin showing his talent

View from the 3rd fairway at Vincentia Golf Club

We stopped off at 7 mile beach...I think OZ has a beach for every person in the country.

On the way back to Sydney we decided to get off the highway and take the coastal road.

Cliff bridge near Wollongong

Went via Wollongong, you can see the cliff bridge in the back ground

Then the road took us into the Royal National Park. Lovely place, intend on going back to some mountain biking and bush walking.

The Blue Mountains are 1h30 drive inland from Sydney.

The Three Sisters near Katoomba

We did 2 bushwalks in Katoomba.
1. Echo Point to Scenic World via Giant Staircase
2. Katoomba Falls to Echo Point
This took around 3hrs.
